Limited Hail Damage Warranty. Mastic also provides you with a limited hail damage warranty, more fully outlined below. This Warranty is limited to the terms and conditions, exclusions and limitations, requirements and legal rights stated in this Warranty.

How Long Does the Coverage Last?

Lifetime Limited Warranty. This lifetime limited warranty may be transferred with the Property. However, upon the transfer, the warranty period will be no more than 50 years from the date of original installation of the Products on the Property, prorated in accordance with the Warranty Coverage Schedule below.

Limited Fade Warranty. Mastic's excessive fade warranty is for seven (7) years from the date of the original installation of the Products on the Property, even if the warranty is transferred with the Property.

Limited Hail Damage Warranty. Mastic's hail damage warranty will last as long as Mastic's Lifetime Limited Warranty lasts, and upon transfer with the Property, shall continue based upon the coverage terms for Mastic's Lifetime Limited Warranty.

You must notify us in accordance with the notice requirements outlined below, and we must validate the complaint. Upon the notification and validation, we will undertake the following:

Lifetime Limited Warranty. At our sole option, we will either repair, replace, refinish or refund to you the value of the Products found to be defective (or prorated if this warranty is transferred). CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Mastic Cedar Discovery siding is one of the most durable building products materials available today for residential applications. In most cases, normal rainfall is sufficient to keep it clean. But if your Mastic Cedar Discovery siding and Accessories should need cleaning, the following procedures are recommended. Particular attention should be given to areas under eaves, porches, awnings, and other overhangs that have limited exposure to the natural washing effect of rainfall.

1. Moderate Atmospheric Dirt – An occasional washing with clear water using a garden hose and soft-bristled brush is recommended (a long-handled, car-washing brush is ideal for this purpose).

2. Heavy Industrial Atmospheric Dirt – Wash in the manner indicated above, but use the following solution:

  • a. 1/3 cup detergent (Tide®, for example)

    b. 2/3 cup trisodium phosphate (Soilax®, for example)

    c. 1 gallon water

  • 3. Mildew Accumulation – Mildew can collect on surfaces of all types of building products and is often evident on surfaces that have not been properly cared for and maintained. Normally, mildew will appear as black spots. Mildew is easy to remove by using the basic cleaning solution above with the addition of sodium hypochlorite as follows:

  • a. 1/3 cup detergent (Tide®, for example)

    b. 2/3 cup trisodium phosphate (Soilax®, for example)

    c. 1 quart sodium hypochlorite 5% solution (Clorox®, for example)

    d. 3 quarts water

  • 4. Caulking Compounds, Tar and Similar Substances – Use mineral spirits in reasonable amounts and apply directly to the foreign substance. Immediately after cleaning, rinse the area thoroughly with water.

CAUTION: Do not exceed the recommended concentrations of cleaners. To do so can cause damage to the products' surface. Avoid skin and eye contact with the solution, and in all cases follow manufacturer's instructions for the use of cleaning compounds and solutions. Avoid use of abrasive-type cleaners and strong solvents. Test any cleaner on an inconspicuous area before applying to major areas. To minimize streaking, always clean from the bottom to the top and follow with a rinsing of clear water. Excessive scrubbing is unnecessary, can be harmful to the products, and may cause undesirable glossy areas over the finish.

    IMPORTANT: Fire Safety Information

Exterior polymar building materials require little maintenance for many years. Nevertheless, common sense dictates that builders and suppliers of polymar products store, handle and install polymar materials in a manner that avoids damage to the product and/or structure. Owners and Installers should take a few simple steps to protect polymar building materials from fire.

To the Home and Building Owner

Rigid polypropylene siding is made from organic material and will melt or burn when exposed to a significant source of flame or heat. Building owners, occupants and outside maintenance personnel should always take normal precautions to keep sources of fire, such as barbecues, and combustible materials, such as dry leaves, mulch and trash away from rigid polypropylene siding.

    HEARTLAND'S LIFETIME WARRANTY

Heartland siding gives you a beautiful way to protect your home… and a warranty that brings you peace of mind.

    Original Owner's Limited Non-Prorated Warranty

Labor and Material - Non-Prorated - Hail Damage Protection - No Service Charges

    Transferable
    (50 Years Proratable Upon Transfer)

    A. ORIGINAL OWNER'S LIFETIME WARRANTY

Heartland Super Polymer Siding and Accessories are manufactured using quality raw materials and produced with engineering excellence designed for years of maintenance-free use.

Heartland Building Products, Inc., (Heartland) warrants exclusively to the original purchaser of our Super Polymer Siding for as long as the original purchaser is living and is the owner of the property to which our products were applied, that the Heartland siding applied to that property will not peel, rot, blister, rust, flake, chip, crack, corrode or be consumed by termites solely as a result of defects in material or manufacturing.

Additionally, Heartland also warrants, exclusively to the original owner only and for as long as he/she is living and is the owner of the property to which Heartland products are applied, that its Super Polymer Siding will not fade, other than as may result from normal weathering or can be expected to occur from exposure to exterior elements. For purposes of this limited warranty, "fade" or "fading" is defined as a loss of color, after cleaning with the recommended solution, of more than six (6) standard color units as measured by a recognized industry-approved color meter.

Should any of these defects occur during the lifetime of the original purchaser while he or she is the owner of the property to which the Heartland siding product(s) were applied, and provided that the terms and conditions of this warranty are met and the claim is properly reported as stated below, Heartland will, at its option, repair or replace, at no cost to the original homeowner, the siding determined to be defective, in accordance with the terms and conditions of this warranty. In lieu of repair or replacement, Heartland reserves the right in its sole discretion to refund the actual purchase price of the products determined to be defective.

    B. REGISTRATION AND TRANSFER OF WARRANTY

The warranty registration card should be completed, signed by the original purchaser and installing contractor, and returned to Heartland, within thirty (30) days after completion of installation of the products in order for the purchaser to be eligible for coverage under this warranty.

This warranty, except for the anti-fade protection discussed in Section A, is transferable by the original owner to subsequent owners of the property on a prorated basis, provided Heartland receives written notice from the transferee of the transfer of the property within thirty (30) days from the date of real estate title transfer. This notice should include the warranty certificate number, address of the property being transferred, name of the original owner, name and address of the transferee, and date of transfer. Failure to so notify Heartland of the transfer will relieve it of any further obligation under this warranty, notice to Heartland being a condition precedent to transfer of this warranty. In the event of transfer of the property and this warranty as hereinabove provided, the warranty period shall extend only for fifty (50) years from the original date of installation of our Heartland siding products and accessories and shall be prorated as set forth herein. During the first five years after the date of original installation of the products is completed, Heartland will, at its option, repair or replace the siding determined to be defective in accordance with the terms and conditions of this warranty at no cost to the transferee owner or, in lieu of repair or replacement, at its discretion, Heartland may refund the actual purchase price of the products determined to be defective. During the sixth year after the date of the original installation of our products, Heartland will bear ninety percent (90%) of the labor and material costs for replacing or repairing the products in accordance with the terms and conditions of this warranty. Thereafter, during the seventh and each subsequent year through the twelfth year after the date of original installation of the products, Heartland's share of the total labor and material costs for replacing or repairing the product will decrease by ten (10) percentage points each year. For example, Heartland shall bear eighty percent (80%) of the labor and material costs during the seventh year, sixty percent (60%) during the ninth year and thirty (30%) during the twelfth year. During the thirteenth and fourteenth years after date of original installation, Heartland's obligation will be twenty percent (20%) of the labor and material costs. During the fifteenth year after the original installation date, Heartland's share will decrease to ten percent (10%) of the labor and material costs and shall remain at that rate for the remaining thirty-five (35) years of the fifty year limited warranty period. The warranty period shall not be extended by any such repairs or replacement.

    C. CONDITIONS NOT COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY

Except for the hail damage warranty described below, this warranty covers only the specified damages arising solely from defects in the manufacture of Heartland's siding and accessories and only if they occur under normal use and service. It does not cover, and Heartland is not liable for, conditions or failure of or damage to such products resulting from faulty or improper installation, settlement of the structure on which the products are installed or shifting of structural members or adjoining surfaces, failure of the structure (including foundations and walls), accidental damage or negligence, intentional acts or damage, fire, wind, flood, lightning, acts of God, misuse, improper care or failure to provide reasonable and necessary maintenance of the product, normal and expected weathering of the surface, mildew, exposure to harmful chemicals or vapors or acid rain, surface discoloration due to atmospheric pollution, distortion or warping due to unusual heat sources (including outdoor grills and reflection from windows or foil sheathing), or the installation of non-Heartland accessory products or accessory products which are incompatible with the Heartland siding or which are installed in a manner detrimental to the performance of the Heartland siding. This warranty covers only unpainted products and is inapplicable to finishings applied to the product by the homeowner.

    EXCLUSION FOR CERTAIN USES:

This warranty is not applicable to siding applied to motor homes or used in industrial or roofing applications. For applications other than private residential (single family dwellings), warranty coverage shall be the 50 year limited warranty as set forth herein in Section B applicable to transferee owners. Further, brown soffit is covered under this warranty for soffit use only, not when utilized as sidewall paneling.

    D. SPECIAL LIMITED WARRANTY FOR HAIL DAMAGE

Heartland provides a limited warranty on its Super Polymer Siding products against damage directly caused by hail. In the event of hail damage, the homeowner should report the damage to his or her homeowners insurance carrier and pursue coverage under any homeowners insurance policy. To the extent such hail damaged products are not covered by insurance, Heartland will provide replacement of the damaged part or portion of the hail damaged products. Heartland's sole obligation under this limited coverage is to provide replacement of hail damaged products. All other costs, including the cost of labor or any other expenses, shall be the sole responsibility of the homeowner.

    E. CLAIMS AND WARRANTY PROCEDURE

If you feel that your siding contains manufacturing defects covered by this warranty, simply write to: Heartland Building Products, Inc., P.O. Box 880, Booneville, Mississippi 38829. Attention: Sales and Warranty Services.

IMPORTANT: ALL CLAIMS UNDER THIS WARRANTY MUST BE REPORTED TO HEARTLAND WITHIN SIXTY (60) DAYS OF THE DATE THAT THE DEFECT IS FIRST DISCOVERED. CLAIMANT SHOULD DESCRIBE THE DEFECT AND PROVIDE NAME, ADDRESS, DATE OF INSTALLATION AND WARRANTY CERTIFICATE NUMBER IF AVAILABLE.

Heartland shall be allowed a reasonable opportunity and time to investigate the claim and to inspect the siding for defects before repairs are begun. You may be requested to allow photos and/or samples to be taken, at Heartland's option, in connection with this investigation. If your siding contains manufacturing defects covered by this warranty, Heartland will, at its option, repair or replace the siding determined to be defective in accordance with the terms of this warranty, or, in lieu of repair or replacement, Heartland may refund the actual purchase price of the products determined to be defective. Heartland may direct and pay a company, dealer, contractor, applicator or distributor to perform any remedy under this warranty on Heartland's behalf. The warranty period shall not be extended by any such repair, replacement, or refund settlements on defective or hail damaged siding or accessories. Due to normal weathering, replacement siding may vary in color and gloss from products originally installed. Such variances are not defects and Heartland is not liable for such variances.

    F. GENERAL PROVISIONS

HEARTLAND RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DISCONTINUE OR MAKE CHANGES IN ANY OF ITS PRODUCTS. IF THE PRODUCTS COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY ARE NOT AVAILABLE, HEARTLAND SHALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO SUBSTITUTE A PRODUCT THAT IN HEARTLAND'S SOLE DISCRETION IS OF EQUAL QUALITY OR VALUE.

NO REPRESENTATIVE OF HEARTLAND OR ANY DISTRIBUTOR, DEALER OR CONTRACTOR IS AUTHORIZED TO MAKE ANY MODIFICATIONS OR CHANGE TO THIS WARRANTY.
